My husband Ed and I met when he was in medical school and I was in nursing school. We moved to Pleasanton as a young couple in 1973 to work for Kaiser Permanente in Hayward. Ed worked as a pediatrician and I was a Cardiac and Intensive Care Nurse. Pleasanton was a small town with cows, farmland, open space and a great little downtown. There was no I-580 or Stoneridge Mall. There were a lot of open fields on Hopyard Road. It was love at first sight. Today this community is where we have raised our two children and where now our three grandchildren reside. Pleasanton is our home. This is why I can say I am committed to Pleasanton. I have been an active volunteer since my first child entered preschool.
