Candidate for
Council Member; City of Newark

Thank you very much for visiting my site on the League of Women Voters important public service on SmartVoter.org.

My family has lived in Newark since 1969. I grew up here and attended our public schools. I have seen a lot of positive changes.

NewPark Mall was built;

The open space by my house became the Sun Micro Systems campus.

And, a great facility for all of us to enjoy was built + the Silliman Center.

Newark has also recently faced some tough economic times.

It seems that too many businesses leave NewPark Mall and relocate to either Fremont or Union City.

Sun, which was our largest employer, shutdown its entire Newark Operation, and the Silliman Center has experienced cutbacks in its programs, a result of the city's 2.5 million dollar deficit.

Most troubling is that Newark loses too many experienced Police Officers and Firefighters to other cities that offer better pay and benefits.

Despite these challenges, my husband and I are invested in this community and plan on raising our two young children here.

Ultimately, that is why I am running for City Council, to make sure all of our children have great childhood memories and a bright future right here in Newark.
